Known as the “deer capital of the world,” McCurtain County and the entire Broken Bow region are renowned for deer hunting. The Honobia Creek and Three Rivers Wildlife Management Areas in and around the Ouachita National Forest host a variety of game including whitetails, wild turkey, rabbit, bobwhite quail and more. Some of the best waterfowl hunting in the region can be found at Red Slough Wetlands Preserve. In the winter months a variety of ducks converge on the area, creating a destination for wing shooters. If trout fishing is on your menu, be sure to experience year-round angling opportunities on the Lower Mountain Fork River, as well as its tributaries.
